Fourth of July in Jacksonville is one of the biggest parties of the year. From outstanding city-wide fireworks to intimate house parties, there’s no doubt this is one of the best days to live in our beautiful city. If you plan to host your friends and family for a party this holiday, Julington Creek Fish Camp is here to help. Every good party planner knows that food is the star of the show. Here are some no-fail appetizers to add to your spread:
Smoked Fish Spread with Toasted Melba
Order a large container with plenty of melba toast. Trust us, you’ll need it! This chilled fish spread is the perfect addition to any party. Offer some freshly sliced lemon on the side for serving.
Peel & Eat Shrimp – Spicy or Regular
The more the merrier in this situation. We recommend ordering half spicy and half regular to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Great accoutrements include fresh lemon and cocktail sauce.
Ceviche of the Day with Soda Crackers
A big batch of ceviche is sure to be the hit of any gathering. Whether our fresh preparation includes shrimp, fish or conch, you simply can’t go wrong with this option.
Creative Cocktails to Help You Celebrate
Sparkling Berry Sangria: Strawberries, blueberries and prosecco…that’s red, white and blue if we’ve ever seen it!
Ingredients
1 container fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
1 container fresh blueberries
6 sprigs fresh thyme
1 bottle Moscato
1 bottle Prosecco
Add the berries, thyme and Moscato to a large pitcher. Stir together and let it sit in the fridge for 4 to 24 hours. When you’re ready to serve, fill the pitcher with ice and top with the bottle of Prosecco. Garnish with a few sprigs of thyme.
Watermelon Margarita: Watermelon has always paired well with alcohol. Instead of plugging your juicy watermelon with a bottle of vodka (yes, we’ve all done it!), opt for something a little more gourmet.
Ingredients
Seedless ripe watermelon, cubed
2 limes, juiced
½ cup orange liqueur
1 cup vodka
A few tablespoons simple syrup
Sea salt and lime slices for garnish
Fill half of your blender with a couple of cups of cubed watermelon. Add two cups of ice, simple syrup, tequila, liqueur and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Rub lime around the rims of each glass and roll in sea salt. Pour the margarita mixture into each glass.
